A concert by renowned Russian artists Gleb Stepanov on cello and Alexey Starikov on piano, titled “Masterpieces of Russian Music,” was held at the Concert Hall of Banski Dvor in Banja Luka to mark the 185th anniversary of the birth of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The event was organized in cooperation with the Russian House in Belgrade.
The program featured a selection of compositions representing some of the most significant achievements of the Russian musical tradition. With their performance, technical precision, and powerful expression, the artists captivated the audience that filled the concert hall.
“This is our first time in Banja Luka, in Republika Srpska, and we feel very comfortable and welcome here. Throughout the day, we’ve experienced a warm and genuine atmosphere, and it’s truly a pleasure to be here,” said cellist Gleb Stepanov.
Russian culture, pianist Alexey Starikov noted, is unique in the way it awakens profound emotions through its art — unlike some other forms of culture that focus primarily on external effects.
“Based on my experience performing abroad, Russian culture is always received with special inspiration and leaves a deep impact on people’s hearts and souls,” Starikov added.
This concert continued the successful cooperation between Banski Dvor and cultural institutions from Russia.
“Today’s concert has become a tradition — a classical Russian music concert organized by Banski Dvor thanks to our cooperation with its director, Dr. Mladen Matović, and the Russian House in Belgrade. Our artists usually come to perform in Serbia, but we always take the opportunity to present them to audiences in Banja Luka as well,” said Yuri Bichukin, advisor at the Office of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, based in Banja Luka.
The artists, who have performed on prestigious stages around the world promoting Russian culture and global musical heritage, delivered an exceptional artistic experience to the Banja Luka audience.
