President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik stated on social media platform X that Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 not for what he had done, but for what others hoped he would do — hopes that, according to Dodik, proved to be in vain.
“During Obama’s presidency, the world was on fire — Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Yemen. Estimates show that more than half a million people were killed in those wars, and millions were displaced. And all this under the leadership of a man who already had a Nobel Prize,” Dodik wrote.
He contrasted Obama’s record with that of former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying that Trump opened negotiations on every major global conflict and was the only president who genuinely tried to end wars rather than start them.
“After achieving agreements between Israel and several Arab countries, Trump is now on the path to restoring peace in Gaza. He strengthens cooperation and dialogue with everyone instead of seeking conflict,” Dodik noted.
According to Dodik, if Obama received one Nobel Prize, Trump deserves two — “one for the peace he brings, and another for the courage to stand up to powers that speak only the language of war.”
“It’s clear now that only those who profit from the misfortunes they create were afraid of his return. They feared him, not realizing that Trump had always been present — in the politics of reason, sovereignty, and peace, in the fight against hypocrisy. Republika Srpska has always stood for the same values — ready to support anyone who dares to think and act independently, without ever giving up on justice, peace, and stability,” Dodik concluded.
