Dodik: I am not the president of a humiliated people, I am the president of a dignified people

The president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, emphasized that Republika Srpska does not seek conflict, but respect.

“We demand respect and freedom, which will be expressed through a referendum. That is our message—bring us back to the Dayton Peace Agreement. We will give our opinion at the referendum to be held at the end of September,” Dodik said yesterday at a press conference in the Palace of the Republic.

He added that Srpska will oppose all external interventions.

“I do not want to see Serbs subjugated in Bosnia and Herzegovina. If we could not be equal, we will not be subordinated. My Serb people need to know that they are not defending Milorad Dodik but themselves. We are defending 34,000 lives given for this land. If we lose now, we have lost forever. No one needs to worry—Republika Srpska has secured enough material conditions to endure this, what is needed is only will,” Dodik stressed.

He called on all people in Republika Srpska to stand behind the National Assembly of Srpska and its decisions.

He stated that he is the president of a very dignified people, who prevailed in both wars, with enormous sacrifices.

Dodik declared that Bosnia and Herzegovina is the last colony in the world, especially in Europe.

“Srpska will not agree to live under colonial conditions. We do not expect anyone to interfere from outside. We carefully studied what U.S. President Donald Trump said these days. He does not want to participate in building states and nations that are failures, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have remembered that very well,” Dodik recalled.

Dodik reiterated that there will be no extraordinary elections for the president of Republika Srpska, adding that he will not be prevented from carrying out his function.
