Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó met today with the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik in Budapest. Following the meeting, Orban stated that Dodik was convicted because “he refuses to dance to Brussels’ tune.”
“Milorad Dodik, president of Republika Srpska, is in Budapest. President Dodik was convicted because he refuses to dance to Brussels’ tune. Hungary rejects this decision,” Orban wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo with Dodik.

Previously, Hungary’s top diplomat Péter Szijjártó said that Hungary’s national security interest lies in ensuring stability in the Western Balkans, and that any external interference opposing that interest is “both harmful and dangerous.”
“The decisions of the peoples of the Western Balkans must be respected. Questioning them threatens regional stability and peace,” Szijjártó wrote on Facebook, sharing photos from the meeting with Dodik and Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović in Budapest.
Earlier today, President Dodik said he was visiting his friend Viktor Orban, the Hungarian Prime Minister, “a leader who clearly and courageously stands for the will of the people, for democracy and sovereignty.”
“I thank him for supporting Republika Srpska and for his clear messages that what the people choose must be respected—not what is imposed by the unelected. Our fight is the same—to stop the abuse of the judiciary and the arbitrariness of the deep state. The end of it is near. The power of the people is returning to Europe, and with it—justice. Freedom will prevail. Democracy will prevail,” Dodik wrote on the X platform.
