Numerous messages of support, as well as concern, have been sent to the Consulate General of BiH in Stuttgart from members of the diaspora following the confirmation of the first-instance verdict against the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, said BiH Consul in Stuttgart, Vera Sajić.
Sajić emphasized that those who orchestrated the verdict do not wish well for anyone in Republika Srpska—or in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“What is being created here is the rule of one man’s will and the rule of political pressure. The goal is to dismantle Dayton, to crush the law, intimidate, and strip Republika Srpska and our president of their competencies,” she added.
All of Schmidt’s decisions and actions are not based on law or democracy—they are purely political, Sajić said. She added that every democratic society must oppose the arbitrariness of an unelected foreigner, no matter who he is or whom he claims to represent.
“If BiH is sovereign, if it has institutions and elected representatives, if Republika Srpska has its president elected through democratic elections and its National Assembly, then no imposed laws or politically driven verdicts dictated by centers of power can—or should—be accepted,” Sajić stressed.
She reminded that Christian Schmidt was not appointed as high representative by the United Nations, but by a group of ambassadors who gave him alleged legitimacy.
“According to all diplomatic standards, ambassadors must not and should not interfere in the politics or legislation of any country in the world—and that includes BiH. We must use all legal and political means, preserve peace, remain dignified, and rightfully support our president. We elected him, and he has acted solely within the powers granted to him by the Constitution. That is the only truth,” said Sajić.
In conclusion, she stated that she personally hoped that law, justice, and reason would prevail, and that the problems in BiH would be resolved through dialogue—not by deepening the crisis.
