Staša Košarac, Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers, has warned that Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković’s threat of mass protests if the court does not rule as he wishes in the case against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik constitutes a flagrant, shameful, and politically dangerous act of pressure on the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina—imperfect as it may be. Košarac sees this as yet another confirmation that the case against Dodik is a politically orchestrated process.
“Since he hasn’t achieved anything in foreign affairs, Konaković now wants to dictate court verdicts,” Košarac told SRNA. “Instead of doing his job in accordance with the Constitution and the law, he wants to judge, write rulings, and organize protests. If the court doesn’t deliver justice—meaning injustice by his political standards and the desires of political Sarajevo—then he threatens unrest.”
Košarac emphasized the irony that such behavior comes from someone who regularly lectures others about democracy and European values.
“Like party, like president!” he remarked.
He went on to question the silence of the OSCE, OHR, and various embassies, who are often quick to criticize Republika Srpska’s institutions.
“Is their silence a sign of approval? Or does a different rule apply—when a Bosniak threatens, it’s considered democratic expression, but when a Serb raises a legitimate objection, it’s labeled an attack on the system?” Košarac asked.
He reiterated his position that the process against Dodik is not based on law or justice but is a politically motivated campaign aimed at removing a legitimately elected Serb representative.
“The goal isn’t justice—it’s political elimination. Instead of legal proceedings, we’re seeing political marketing and threats of street unrest. So much for their version of the ‘rule of law’,” Košarac concluded.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska has the strength and determination to defend its legal rights and preserve its institutions.
