Goganović meets with USA Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and NATO

The United States remains a key partner in the defense system, emphasized Deputy Minister of Defense Aleksandar Goganović during a meeting today with David Baker, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and NATO Affairs. Goganović also stated that Republika Srpska is not pursuing a secessionist policy.

In a statement for SRNA, Goganović said that Baker’s central message was that the U.S. respects the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multiethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and urges all domestic political actors to contribute to de-escalating the political crisis and support dialogue between the leaderships of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH.

During the meeting, Goganović stressed that, as a representative of Republika Srpska in the Council of Ministers of BiH, he can state with certainty that Republika Srpska, under the leadership of President Milorad Dodik, is not implementing a secessionist agenda, and that it respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH.

He highlighted that Republika Srpska insists on the consistent implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and on decision-making based on the agreement of the two entities and the three constituent peoples.

Following the meeting with Baker, Goganović noted that he emphasized the importance of monitoring global conflicts and their potential impact on BiH, the value of cooperation with the U.S., EU, and other international partners, as well as the significance of good neighborly relations and regional cooperation.

During the meeting, he also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his efforts to end global conflicts, expressing optimism about the region’s future and stability.

Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, was also present at the meeting.
