Dodik: I remain the president of Republika Srpska, there will be no snap elections

He will not allow, as long as he is president, any snap elections for the presidency to be held in the territory of Republika Srpska, said Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik at a press conference commenting on the second-instance verdict of the Court of BiH.

“Those elections will not be held while I am president. I call on my associates to reject any possibility of organizing snap presidential elections, and for the police to be engaged to prevent the setup of any polling station. I thank the PDP for previously stating that they would not participate in presidential elections if called,” Dodik said.

The president of Republika Srpska emphasized that he will continue performing his duties until he receives a decision from the National Assembly and a clear plan on how to proceed and how far to go.

“I believe Republika Srpska must respond, as danger is looming over it. They are targeting the strongest political figures. I don’t expect the opposition to say anything other than to gloat over what happened today,” Dodik stressed.

The Appellate Division of the Court of BiH upheld the first-instance verdict against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik. As a reminder, Dodik was initially sentenced to one year in prison and a six-year ban from political activity for failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt.
