Borac assembles new frontcourt duo

Basketball Club Borac has begun forming its squad for the upcoming season in which they will compete in both the Bosnian League and ABA 2 League.

The Banja Luka-based club has signed Dušan Tanasković and Balša Mirotić, who will form the new frontcourt duo. Tanasković is returning to Borac, where he played during the 2022–23 season on loan from Igokea. Since then, he played for MZT Skopje—winning both the Macedonian Championship and Cup—and spent the previous season with Mega. Born in 2001, Tanasković previously played for Partizan (where he won the Radivoj Korać Cup), Mladost Zemun, and Dunav. He plays as a center and power forward and is the younger brother of Nikola Tanasković, who also played for Borac and had a standout season with Budućnost.

Mirotić, a power forward born in 1997 in Cetinje, began his senior career at Danilovgrad before joining Podgorica’s Old Star, founded by Vlado Šćepanović. In 2021, he moved to Vojvodina, followed by stints with Milenijum (Podgorica), Lovćen (Cetinje), Ibar (Rožaje), and Handlová (Slovakia). Most recently, he played in Mostar during the past season.

“We’ve started assembling the team for the upcoming season, which will be full of challenges. We lost many of our key players over the summer, so we’re starting from scratch. Borac’s recent strong performances helped players move on to better contracts, which also confirms the quality of our work,” said coach Šćekić for Glas Srpske. “Tanasković is already familiar with our system, while Mirotić knows the BiH League and should adapt quickly. With these two, we’ve addressed the high positions.”

Incoming Signings and Negotiations

The club is also negotiating with several other players.

“We have tentative agreements but haven’t signed yet, so I won’t name them. Official announcements are expected soon. Also, young players from our development club Akademac will get the chance to prove themselves,” Šćekić added.

Departures

Borac has already parted ways with:

  • Vuk Bošković (heading to college in the U.S.),
  • Srđan Bošković (Student Igokea),
  • Đorđe Topolović (Student Igokea),
  • Stefan Simanić (Cleveland Charge).

The status of Darko Talić, whose contract has expired, remains uncertain. He is exploring options abroad but has not ruled out staying with Borac.
