As part of the “Diaspora Days” event, two art exhibitions were opened in Lopare, showcasing works by 14 artists from Serbia and Republika Srpska, created during the “Miladin Lukić” Art Gathering, as well as pieces by Cvjetko Božić, a native of Majevica who spent his career at the Belgrade-based newspaper Politika.
Božić presented three-dimensional portraits of his neighbors and other personalities he found interesting, all crafted from wood.
“I’ve been painting for half a century, but this is a special technique I began using in 2020, during the pandemic—combining oil paint and wood,” said Božić.
He added that he also worked as a caricaturist during his years at Politika, and has held several exhibitions of paintings and drawings, including some in Lopare.
At the opening held last night in the Cultural Center, the mayor of Lopare, Rado Savić, emphasized that each year the municipality becomes richer in cultural content and increasingly recognized for it.
