The Dayton Peace Agreement is being undermined by Bosniak politicians working with the unelected foreigner Christian Schmidt — not by the president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, as some politicians in the United States would like to portray, stated former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.
He said that the president of Republika Srpska was unfairly presented in a negative light in today’s statement by St. Louis County Executive Ann Wagner, solely because of his courage to oppose the German politician Schmidt — a person who, as Blagojevich emphasized, has no real understanding of what is happening in Republika Srpska, let alone in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“My suggestion to Congresswoman Wagner is to come here and join us, because we are on the side of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law,” Blagojevich said.
“The authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina are working with Christian Schmidt, an unelected high representative who is dismantling the Dayton Peace Agreement. People in America do not know that Serbs are signatories of the Dayton Agreement and that they have rights and obligations stemming from that treaty. The process of stripping the Serb people of their autonomy has been slow, and this illegal German wants to bring it to completion — to take away the rights of the Serb people. President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik stood against that. He was courageous, and I see it as my duty, as a Serb immigrant, to go back to the U.S. and tell everyone who is willing to listen about the injustice done to the Serb people here, especially by this illegitimate high representative,” Blagojevich stated.
Blagojevich, who visited Višegrad today, thanked the mayor of the municipality, Mladen Đurević, for his hospitality and expressed confidence that Višegrad will become a magnet for tourists — not only from the former Yugoslavia but from all over Europe and the world.
“I believe that even Americans will come, because when we return home, we will tell everyone about how beautiful Višegrad is,” he added.
He also mentioned that he had the opportunity today to visit the site where the commander of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland, Draža Mihailović, was captured in 1946, and said that he is the only U.S. congressman in history who knows the song “Prepare, prepare, Chetniks” — which he learned from his father, who served in the Royal Yugoslav Army.
