The National Theatre of Republika Srpska will perform this upcoming weekend at theatre festivals in Jajce and Bihać, the national theatre of Srpska announced.
The play The Broken Jug by Heinrich von Kleist, directed by Tatjana Mandić Rigonat, will open this year’s 44th Theatre Festival in Jajce, which begins tomorrow.
The Broken Jug will be performed at 7:00 p.m. in the Cultural Centre. This production, part of the 95th theatre season of the National Theatre, has already achieved significant success on the festival circuit, receiving multiple awards.
The play was declared the best performance at the “Mostarska liska” Festival in May, where it won the “Grand Prix – Big Liska” award.
The co-production Small Wars and Zara’s Cabins by young playwright Vida Davidović, a collaboration between the National Theatre of Republika Srpska and Sterijino Pozorje, directed by Ivica Buljan, won three awards at last year’s festival in Jajce – Best Costume Design (Ana Savić Gecan), Best Playwright (Vida Davidović), and Best Acting Performance (Nikolina Friganović, leading actress of the National Theatre of Srpska).
In 2023, the play The Woman from Sarajevo by Ivo Andrić, directed by Đurđa Tešić, was named the best performance at the theatre games in Jajce. Slađana Zrnić, leading actress of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska, received the Best Acting Performance award for her role as Rajka. The third award went to Draganа Purković Macan for Best Set Design.
The audience jury agreed with the official jury and awarded a fourth prize to The Woman from Sarajevo as the audience favorite.
The play The Face by Aleksandr Galin, directed by Radoslav Milenković, will be performed on June 29 in Bihać at 9:00 p.m., as part of the 27th Festival of Performing Arts “Bihać Summer.”
