Košarac: Preparations have begun for participation in “Expo 2027” in Belgrade

Staša Košarac, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, stated that today’s meeting in Sarajevo regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in the specialized exhibition “Expo 2027” in Belgrade was a valuable opportunity to receive necessary information and suggestions from relevant stakeholders during the preparation process.

Košarac noted that, in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers and the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, preparations have officially begun for participation in “Expo 2027” in Belgrade. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, he emphasized that this was a good occasion to receive additional information from the event’s management in order to promptly form the organizational committee, which is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s obligation.

He highlighted the need to prepare companies from both Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, as well as cultural and sports institutions, to take part in the Expo and use the opportunity to promote their capacities.

“Serbia is an important foreign trade partner for us, and what we heard today is encouraging—that Serbia considers itself a regional host of ‘Expo 2027’. I believe it is logical for us to act accordingly and for BiH institutions, together with entity-level structures, to prepare in a way that ensures we are highly visible at ‘Expo 2027’, which is expected to host participants from over 130 countries,” said Košarac, adding that this could be the largest number of countries attending such an event.

He stated that 110 countries have so far announced their participation in “Expo 2027,” including Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We expect that in meetings scheduled for mid-June, we will receive further information so that our organizational committee can prepare the program, secure financial resources, and adequately and timely prepare the pavilion, ensuring that it comprehensively reflects all key aspects of the economy of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH,” Košarac said.

He added that today’s meeting in Sarajevo was attended by representatives of entity-level ministries and chambers of commerce who will be involved in the preparations, as well as representatives of the most prominent exporters and importers in BiH, in order to gather their suggestions necessary for creating a comprehensive program and preparing the pavilion content for the event in Belgrade.
