Višković: The non-paper prepared by Germany and France will further deepen the crisis in BiH

The non-paper prepared by Germany and France will further deepen the crisis in which Bosnia and Herzegovina currently finds itself and will in no way contribute to resolving it, as certain political circles in BiH and beyond might expect, said the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković.

“The policy of sanctions and additional pressure on Republika Srpska and its democratically elected officials reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the political processes taking place in BiH, and a deliberate ignorance of the fact that on the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the ones being punished are those advocating for its consistent implementation,” Višković stated.

He emphasized that Republika Srpska firmly opposes any attempts to amend or undermine the Dayton Peace Agreement, which are reflected in the constant efforts toward the centralization and unitarization of BiH by political circles in Sarajevo and parts of the international community.

“The only possible way out of the current political crisis lies in open and constructive dialogue between legitimately elected representatives, which must begin as soon as possible and without interference from the international factor,” Višković said.

He stressed that only in this way can BiH demonstrate that it possesses the democratic capacity required on its path toward the European Union.

“I also want to highlight that Republika Srpska has always maintained a proper working relationship with the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the European Investment Bank. These institutions know that Republika Srpska is a reliable and responsible partner with whom many projects have already been successfully implemented,” Višković concluded.
