Three, two, one… warm-up has begun! A big adventure for little runners is approaching fast, as part of the Vivia Run&More Weekend festival. Who can take part?
Participants in the Tropic Bambini Marathon are children aged 2 to 7. With a symbolic registration fee, they run accompanied by a parent, guardian, or volunteer. At the finish line, they’ll be greeted with specially designed bambini medals.
Of course, there will also be sponsor gifts, some sweets, a little mischief, music, and color…
“In our specially designed kids’ races, the greatest success isn’t measured by the clock. The track becomes a playground, and victory means developing a sporting spirit, friendship, and healthy habits. Children who were seven years old when we held the first Half Marathon 11 years ago are now experienced runners. Some of them already run 21 kilometers. That means we’ve practically built a generation of half-marathoners, and we’re truly proud of that,” explains Goran Ćorić, director and founder of the Vivia Run&More Weekend festival.
On the last weekend of May, in the heart of the city filled with green parks and tree-lined boulevards, school groups will once again test their strength on the track.
The Intersport School Run includes competitions for elementary and high school students in various categories over a distance of 700 meters—for both individual and school results. Registration is free, and those who cross the finish line first will also receive entry to the region’s most colorful and wildest race, the Nektar Color Fun Run.
“I’m counting down the days until the festival. I train a little every day. Thanks to this event, athletics is becoming my great passion. Every year we have a great time and meet new people from the sports world,” says 13-year-old Jana Glamočanin, a multi-award-winning karate athlete and an excellent student at “Đura Jakšić” Elementary School in Banja Luka.
Children and running in the same sentence almost always means fun—especially when it’s painted with the brush of Vivia Run&More Weekend in Banja Luka.
