Kalabukhov: The actions of illegitimate Schmidt are the greatest challenge to stability

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Kalabukhov, stated that the actions of the illegitimate Christian Schmidt represent the biggest challenge to stability in BiH.

Kalabukhov emphasized that instability was expected from the moment Schmidt arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The fact that he lacks legitimacy and acts like a protector generates instability among representatives of the constituent peoples in BiH,” Kalabukhov said.

He added that only politicians who are unable to implement constructive policies speak of the so-called “malign Russian influence.”

“They fail to recognize the malign influence of the West, they ignore the harm caused by the United States, and instead they turn to blaming Russia,” Kalabukhov noted.

According to him, Russia and Republika Srpska maintain a strategic relationship in certain areas.

“There have been several meetings and discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, and there is always some substance that benefits both Russian interests and those of Republika Srpska, and even BiH as a whole,” Kalabukhov told Euronews.

He reiterated that Russia is a guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement and consistently calls for problems to be resolved through dialogue between the entities and constituent peoples.

“That is the only path to stability in BiH,” Kalabukhov said, adding that the world cannot resolve BiH’s issues—only local politicians can, and they must take responsibility.
