A gala evening organized by the Republican Party was held at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, with the attendance of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Among the guests was a notable group of Serb-American business leaders, including several with roots in Republika Srpska.
The event was also attended by former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, whose mother hails from Herzegovina, and Ranko Ristić.
Ristić told SRNA it was a tremendous honor to attend the event at Mar-a-Lago alongside fellow compatriots, as well as other donors and members of President Trump’s administration.
“I had the privilege of meeting President Trump again, and to my great surprise, he recognized me from last year’s roundtable, where I informed him of the strong support from the Serb community for his policies,” Ristić emphasized.
During their brief but warm exchange, Ristić reiterated his unconditional support for Trump’s peace-oriented policies.
Former Governor Blagojevich joined the conversation, expressing his gratitude to President Trump for the recent full pardon.
Trump elaborated on his decision, stressing that he could not allow those who orchestrated a politically motivated case against him to do the same to Blagojevich.
Following the conversation, President Trump, Blagojevich, and Ristić posed for a photograph, with Trump characteristically giving a thumbs-up.
The gala, held last night, continued in the main ballroom, where guests enjoyed an informative yet entertaining speech by President Trump and Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, leaving a strong impression on all in attendance.
When asked by SRNA whether he had attended the working lunch with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Ristić confirmed that he had, and described it as a very important meeting.
He noted that President Vučić appeared visibly exhausted, and at one point it seemed the meeting might be interrupted.
“I strongly condemn the unfounded claims by certain media outlets suggesting that President Vučić insinuated he was in poor health. We must remember that presidents are also human beings who face immense pressure and constant travel,” Ristić stressed, adding that, like all well-meaning individuals, he wishes the President of Serbia a speedy recovery.
Ristić expressed hope that he will meet with President Vučić again in the near future.
