The scheduled meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and 196 ambassadors, which was set to take place today, has been canceled, Srna has learned from diplomatic sources.
The meeting was called off due to Rubio’s overbooked schedule and the inability to accommodate it within his agenda.
This type of meeting is a standard practice following the appointment of a new U.S. Secretary of State, who traditionally hosts a reception for ambassadors in Washington.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ambassador to the U.S., Sven Alkalaj, recently misled the public by claiming that he would meet with the newly appointed Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, on March 19, presenting it as a bilateral meeting. However, in reality, Alkalaj was merely one of 196 ambassadors scheduled to attend today’s gathering.
