Dodik: I am fighting against an unconstitutional institution convicting a constitutional one

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik stated that he is fighting against an unconstitutional institution in BiH passing judgment on a constitutional institution.

Dodik expressed agreement with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statement that BiH does not need another crisis but emphasized that a crisis cannot be resolved without addressing its cause.

  • Christian Schmidt has taken the Muslim side in BiH and has imposed a verdict. The court convicted a president who is constitutional and democratically elected. An unconstitutional institution is passing judgment on a constitutional institution, Dodik told RTS.

Dodik: I am targeted because I uphold Dayton

Dodik said the real reason behind the attacks against him is the manner in which the process was handled, adding that there is a narrative in the background suggesting that he should be removed because he is the strongest leader, has won elections for 20 years, holds firm national positions in line with the Dayton Agreement, and because they cannot legitimize the disorder they have created.

He also stated that if Donald Trump pursues a policy similar to Joe Biden’s in BiH, Republika Srpska will be forced to continue defending itself as before.

  • I have sincerely supported and continue to support Trump. This was heard in America among our people, which is probably why they chose to support Trump. That’s also why I was first sanctioned—not because of myself, but because of Trump. When they sanctioned me, they sanctioned Trump as well, and that has remained in place to this day, Dodik said.

Rubio’s criticism has strengthened Serb resolve

Dodik said he was actually pleased with Rubio’s critical statement, as it mobilized Serbs working in the U.S. into a more determined stance on the issue.

  • He can call for respect for the courts, but only if those courts are legal and not politically motivated, Dodik stated.

He added that Rubio is deliberately ignoring these facts and is covering up the failures of Biden’s administration in BiH, particularly the creation of ad hoc and inquisitorial courts.

  • What he said can only be understood that way. But he is covering up the chaos sowed by Biden’s administration. There will be other Americans who will say something different—just wait, Dodik remarked.

Dodik: Rubio’s social media statements are scripted

Dodik expressed his belief that the initial statement Rubio posted on X (formerly Twitter) was written by his staff, as is the case with many of his official statements.

  • But when he gave interviews, he changed his tone and did not mention me negatively, Dodik pointed out.

BiH survives on international interventionism

Dodik also recalled U.S. support for the territorial integrity of former Yugoslavia, comparing it to Rubio’s current rhetoric on BiH’s integrity.

  • I have always said that peace must be preserved, and I agree with Rubio on that. However, the narrative of “coexistence” is flawed. No one here wants war, and we have never called for war.

He concluded by stating that BiH is already fragmented and survives only through international interventionism.
