USAID financed Christian Schmidt, even though it is clear that he was not appointed in accordance with international law, said Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, who is also the leader of SNSD.
“The competent institutions of Republika Srpska will investigate who USAID financed and in what manner,” Dodik stated at a press conference.
He emphasized that he had received information that 40,000 people had received financial compensation from USAID.
“I didn’t make this claim myself. It needs to be investigated who received the funds. We have instructed the police to look into it. Support should be given to U.S. President Donald Trump, who has stated that USAID is a criminal organization,” Dodik said.
Dodik noted that USAID had investments in humanitarian organizations, but that much larger sums went into unknown channels and were used to finance NGOs and Christian Schmidt.
“This is a serious case of fraud and crime. We are aware of which journalists and media outlets were paid, when they received funds, and how their editorial policies have been shaped,” Dodik emphasized.
