Republika Srpska aims to offer its resources and expertise in the implementation of cultural projects and programs, stated Željka Stojičić, the Minister of Culture, during her visit to Nova Gorica, Slovenia, where she attended the opening ceremony of the European Capital of Culture and a meeting of Western Balkan ministers of culture.
In her address at the meeting, Stojičić emphasized that the ceremony showcased the power of culture and the potential it offers for the development of cities and states.
She highlighted that Banja Luka was the first city in Republika Srpska to develop a local cultural strategy.
“We want Nova Gorica to consider the capacities offered by Republika Srpska and BiH when implementing its projects and programs. We are offering our experts for cooperation and participation in such initiatives,” said Stojičić.
The minister noted that the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska is one of the leading institutions in the realization of cultural projects.
She pointed out that in 2023, an exhibition featured artists from galleries in Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, and BiH.
“The goal of this project was to raise awareness about climate change and sustainability, as well as to highlight a range of issues humanity faces globally,” Stojičić explained.
During her two-day visit to Nova Gorica, Stojičić also attended receptions hosted by Slovenian Minister of Culture Asta Vrečko and the Mayor of Nova Gorica, Samo Turel.
