Cvijanović: Desecration of the memorial plaque in Jelačići is a clear message to Serbs that they are not welcome, neither alive nor dead

Apart from Serbs themselves, it is evident that even the traces of their existence in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are unwelcome, stated Željka Cvijanović, Serb member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Reacting to the repeated desecration of the memorial plaque in Jelačići near Kladanj, erected in memory of Serb civilians and soldiers from that village who were killed by Muslims on January 14, 1994, on Little Christmas, Cvijanović emphasized that this is not the first time that a plaque dedicated to murdered Serb soldiers and civilians during the last war has been defaced.

“The plaque was last desecrated just last month, yet the perpetrators were not found or sanctioned, just as in previous incidents. It is shameful that the responsible institutions, through their inaction, encourage such incidents. The blame also lies with those who continuously spread intolerance and hatred towards the Serb people through Sarajevo-based media,” Cvijanović stressed.

She pointed out that this sends a clear message to Serbs that they are not welcome in areas where they have lived for centuries, neither in life nor in death.
