Attached is the text: The General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH – A Condition for Peace and Stability in BiH and the Region.

Due to the constant and increasingly flagrant violations of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, commonly known as the Dayton Peace Agreement, the Center has decided to present to the public a brief expert review of the main and some of the most important facts of this international peace agreement.

We hope this brief text will contribute, at least in part, to fostering a more substantive and, above all, more responsible dialogue both domestically and internationally, within the framework of the Dayton Peace Agreement, as a guarantor of peace and stability in BiH and the region.

In this brief expert review, interested readers can also find explanations of facts rooted in international law, such as:

“The Republic of Srpska, as a contracting party and signatory of all annexes of the Dayton Peace Agreement, has the obligation and the right, despite terror and pressure, to protect its competencies and the rights of its citizens guaranteed by the Agreement. If mechanisms at the BiH level fail to ensure the protection of these rights, the Republic of Srpska retains the legitimate right to initiate appropriate legal and political steps in accordance with international law, including withdrawal from the Agreement, to safeguard the rights of its citizens, the stability of its territory, and peace in the region.”
