Sokolovi’s striker: Slavija belongs at the top

Slavija footballer Miljan Govedarica expects even better performances from his team in the spring, following their impressive finish to the autumn season.

The team ended the half-season with a five-match unbeaten streak, and Govedarica stood out in those games. The experienced striker finished the season with ten goals, securing second place on the scoring charts in the First League of Republika Srpska. Slavija wrapped up the autumn round in eighth place with 23 points.

The striker emphasized that the most important thing was escaping the lower part of the table.

  • “We had a great series of matches at the end, which gave us a peaceful winter break. We significantly improved our points tally and finished eighth. We played very well, and the least important thing is who scored the goals in those successes. Slavija deserves to be at the top. We are not completely satisfied with the points total, but considering our rough start and all the problems we faced, this strong finish was a great boost for the team,” said Govedarica.

His contribution was particularly valuable as he scored in the last five rounds.

  • “When I returned to Slavija, I struggled with weight issues. It took some time to get back into shape. This half-season has brought me back to football, and I enjoy playing again. I feel that I can perform at a high level, and that’s the most important thing,” Govedarica added.

He also announced even better performances from the club.

  • “I expect us to strengthen the squad, have quality preparations, and then continue achieving good results, because our club belongs among the leading teams,” concluded Govedarica.
