Yesterday, based on orders from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers, Nenad Nešić, along with current director Milan Dakić, Mladen Lučić, and four other individuals, were detained. They are suspected of corruption-related activities during Nešić’s tenure as head of the Republika Srpska Roads public company.
During the operation, residential and business premises in Banja Luka, East Sarajevo, and Bijeljina, used by the detained individuals, were searched, and documentation was seized from the Republika Srpska Roads company. Republika Srpska officials have highlighted the suspicious timing of the arrests, describing them as persecution of Serb representatives.
The head of the SNSD Caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Sanja Vulić, stated on the RTRS program that Nešić faced pressures regarding appointments of certain individuals.
- Nešić has a clear and firm stance. No appointment could proceed without the position of Republika Srpska being respected. I believe he clashed with the outgoing American administration and Ambassador Michael Murphy – said Vulić.
She emphasized that Nešić consistently supported Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.
- And that bothers political Sarajevo – added Vulić.
She also pointed out that the latest conclusions from the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NSRS) are problematic for many.
- The fact is that the SNSD Caucus has grown stronger in the NSRS, and this is something that bothers Michael Murphy and Christian Schmidt – Vulić stressed.
She noted that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has now opened a case dating back to 2017.
- What kind of legal state opens a case after seven years? This is terrible. It also pains me to see Serb traitors involved. How did federal media end up in front of the East Sarajevo police department before anyone else? Someone tipped them off. These are the same people who put Republika Srpska officials on sanction lists – said Vulić.
The president of the People’s Party of Srpska (NPS), Darko Banjac, stated in the same program that BiH is an unfortunate country.
- There is always foreign interference, always international actors involved, and that’s clear to everyone. After the NSRS conclusions were adopted, Republika Srpska officials immediately became targets – emphasized Banjac.
He underlined that this is a political case against Nešić.
- This case dates back seven years, and now they suddenly found something. Nešić is a minister and the president of DNS. If he had been summoned, he would have appeared before the Prosecutor’s Office without any issues. There was no need for such a spectacle – said Banjac.
He added that it is evident this is pressure on officials from Republika Srpska.
- Nešić will not change his views and will continue to fight for the Constitution and the jurisdiction of Republika Srpska. I appeal to the people in the Prosecutor’s Office not to allow themselves to be manipulated by parts of the international community – concluded Banjac.
