The Government of Republika Srpska has adopted a proposal to amend and supplement the Law on the Rights of Veterans, War Invalids, and Families of Fallen Soldiers of the Defensive-Patriotic War under an urgent procedure.
The primary reason for adopting this law is to ensure the payment of financial entitlements to all veteran categories covered by the existing law, recognizing their contributions to the creation of Srpska and their large numbers, the Government’s Public Relations Office announced.
It was noted that the Constitutional Court of Republika Srpska determined that the article of the law regarding the method for calculating the base for payments was inconsistent with the Constitution of Srpska.
As a result, amendments to Article 16 of the current law are necessary to define that the base for calculating monthly payments for veteran categories will be determined as a percentage of the average net salary from the previous year, expressed in nominal terms.
The amendments guarantee that the base amount will not decrease compared to the previous year and provide the possibility for increases at the beginning of the year or during the year if conditions allow.

The Government has approved 74 million BAM for the implementation of the gasification project in eastern Srpska, which will be financed through the Public Investment Program.
The project, divided into three phases, has already completed two phases, including the construction of a measuring and regulation station and the conversion of boilers to natural gas. The remaining phase will focus on expanding the gas network in municipalities like Istočno Novo Sarajevo and Istočna Ilidža.
750,000 BAM for underdeveloped municipalities
The Government approved 750,000 BAM in financial assistance to underdeveloped and extremely underdeveloped municipalities for the period from October 1 until the end of the year.
The funds were allocated as part of the Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Governance’s budget, which designated 3.3 million BAM for this purpose in 2024.
New strategy against corruption adopted
The Government also adopted an anti-corruption strategy for 2025–2031, which will serve as a framework for developing measures in both the public and private sectors.
The strategy defines four key goals: strengthening institutional and legal frameworks, enhancing transparency in the public sector, promoting integrity, and raising awareness about the harmful effects of corruption.
The vision for the period is to build responsible and transparent institutions that prevent and suppress corruption while maintaining public trust.
The Government emphasized its commitment to systematic anti-corruption efforts, highlighted by the adoption of this fourth strategic document, which reflects its dedication to combating corruption through coordinated actions involving both governmental and non-governmental organizations.
