Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov stated that the bizarre nature of the trial against Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, lies in the fact that he was merely fulfilling his duties as a president by defending the Constitution of Republika Srpska.
“I cannot predict how this trial will end, but analyzing the overall situation, I see a hybrid approach by the international Western community towards Republika Srpska, which has already been economically and financially sanctioned,” Kalabukhov emphasized.
He pointed out that the West likely has specific objectives regarding this trial, which appears to bear signs of political influence.
“I hope that throughout these developments, a certain modus operandi will emerge, as the most important aspect is the voice of the citizens of Republika Srpska and their political motivation, considering that Dodik was elected by the people,” the Russian ambassador told Srna.
Kalabukhov underlined that new elections will take place in two years, which will reveal the outcomes of this democratic process. However, he noted that there are currently many negative elements evident in this trial.
