Dodik: I like Trump’s idea – practical and realistic

The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, expressed his support for the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump’s idea of Canada becoming the 51st state of the United States, calling it “practical and realistic” in a post on X.

To recap, President-elect Donald Trump recently stated that many Canadians wish for their country to join the U.S. as its 51st state.

In his post on the social media platform X, Trump argued that no one can justify why the U.S. subsidizes Canada with vast sums of money, reportedly reaching up to $100 million.

“This makes no sense,” Trump stated.

“Many Canadians want Canada to become our 51st state. It would save them a lot on taxes and military protection. I think it’s a great idea,” he added.

The President-elect has previously warned Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that imposing new taxes on the U.S. would “kill” Canada’s economy. He suggested that Canada consider becoming part of the U.S.

Trump also threatened to introduce a 25% tariff on Canadian goods unless the northern neighbor ensures tighter border controls to prevent illegal migration and drug trafficking.
