Banja Luka opens winter wonderland, aiming for new records

Fairies, elves, Santa Claus with plenty of gifts, and fantastic musical and entertainment performances are part of the magical winter that has arrived in the largest city of Republika Srpska.

Winter market “Zimzobal” welcomes visitors

The winter market “Zimzobal,” a highlight of the rich “Banja Luka Winter” festival, has opened its doors to residents and numerous visitors, whose numbers have been growing every year.

Banja Luka’s mayor, Draško Stanivuković, stated that thanks to exceptional events, the city continues to break attendance records year after year.

  • “The message we want to send is this – Vienna, Budapest, and Zagreb are great, but so is Banja Luka. We have the ambition to become the top destination in the region and beyond for holiday festivities,” Stanivuković declared.

He added that this year, even more parts of the city have been decorated and that the organized events cater to everyone.

  • “Over the years, New Year celebrations have become a brand across Europe. This is the time of year when cities and countries attract the most tourists and host numerous events. Four years ago, the mayor envisioned putting Banja Luka on the tourist map with year-round activities to bring tourists to the city. Ten city departments worked on preparing the city for this, with preparations lasting nearly two months,” explained Milada Šukalo, an advisor to the mayor.

A month of music, fun, and surprises

Šukalo reminded everyone that the “Banja Luka Winter” program will feature a month of music, entertainment, and surprises for the entire family, promising a magical experience for all visitors.
