President of Srpska briefs Western Balkans Friends Group ambassadors on the current political situation in BiH

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik met today with ambassadors from the Western Balkans Friends Group, including representatives from Slovakia, Slovenia, Greece, Croatia, and the Czech Republic, as well as chargé d’affaires from the Austrian and Italian embassies. The meeting took place at the Government Headquarters of Republika Srpska in East Sarajevo.

Dodik informed the ambassadors about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), emphasizing that Republika Srpska remains firmly committed to protecting its rights and autonomy. He reiterated that only a Dayton and constitutional BiH can be a part of the European Union.\

He noted that under the guise of European integration, there are attempts to promote concepts incompatible with BiH’s framework, leading toward complete centralization—a stance advocated by Bosniaks.

Dodik pointed out that the latest European Commission report on BiH contains falsehoods, which led to its rejection. He stressed that the report unfairly labels Republika Srpska as the main culprit and represents a disregard for both Republika Srpska and the Dayton Agreement. He reminded the ambassadors that Republika Srpska was the first to agree to implement all 14 priorities outlined in the European Commission’s Opinion, but the EU later stated that only certain issues would be addressed.

The president underscored that the European Union must respect BiH’s Constitution and structure, asserting that demands contrary to the Constitution undermine the European narrative. He found it remarkable that Europe, a proponent of the rule of law and democratic values, has not reacted to the fact that the illegal Christian Schmidt continues to make decisions in BiH instead of its institutions, and that foreign judges remain active in the Constitutional Court. Dodik informed the ambassadors that Republika Srpska is prepared to take measures if Christian Schmidt attempts to impose any decisions regarding property.

Radovan Višković, Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, was also present at the meeting, held at the Government Headquarters in East Sarajevo.
