Dodik: I am confident in a change in U.S. policy towards BiH

“I am convinced there will be significant changes in U.S. policy towards Bosnia and Herzegovina following Donald Trump’s election as president,” stated Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska.

“I think they’re lying, as they have lied about everything else; it’s impossible that there won’t be changes. I believe in a shift in American policy both domestically and internationally, as Trump himself has announced. And as for what one American ambassador, Michael Murphy, says—he’s already gone as far as we’re concerned. Of course, he will try to do something more, to make our lives difficult, but he can do as he pleases. His political faction suffered a dramatic loss in America, and I’m glad about that,” Dodik remarked, responding to the U.S. Embassy’s statement in BiH, which claimed that both major political parties in the United States do not have differing policies towards BiH.

The President of Republika Srpska is confident that good cooperation with the new U.S. administration will be established, or rather, that it is already in place.

“I believe that next year we will have clear indications that we can cooperate with the America led by Trump, while we could not collaborate with the America led by Joseph Biden, as he was consistently anti-Serb from his time in the Senate and Congress, creating policies against the Serbs in this region. With Trump’s victory, the policies of Bill Clinton—who proposed the Dayton Agreement only to undermine it from day one—have been defeated,” Dodik said.

He pointed out that the U.S. Embassy in BiH could have organized a gathering of compliant local politicians and media around the elections, as they usually do, but this time, they did not.

“Isn’t that a change? It’s certainly a change and a message to us as well,” Dodik emphasized.
