The UN Security Council will hold a semi-annual debate on BiH today, where differing views on the role of the OHR in BiH are anticipated, according to the UN website.
The announcement highlights the deep divisions regarding BiH’s Euro-Atlantic integrations and potential membership in the EU and NATO, particularly between Russia, on one side, and the US and EU member states on the other.
It is expected that UN Security Council members will express differing positions on the role of the OHR and the legitimacy of Christian Schmidt.
The Council members are also expected to vote on a draft resolution to extend the mandate of the “Althea” mission for another year.
