Museum of Herzegovina receives award for best museum of Slavic countries

The Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje has been awarded the prestigious recognition as the best museum among Slavic countries, competing against 20 museum institutions from 10 nations.

The award was granted for excellence in public engagement and openness. The museum’s director, Ivana Grujić, and senior curator, ethnologist-anthropologist Božana Đuzelović, received the award in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, according to a statement from the Museum of Herzegovina.

The jury for the ŽIVA award, established by the Forum of Slavic Cultures in 2014, visited the Museum of Herzegovina in May and recognized its focus on visitors, the development of cultural tourism, and unique cultural events.

The museum was also honored for the dedication of its staff and its rich educational programs.

In its conclusion, the jury noted that the Museum of Herzegovina in Trebinje successfully attracts both domestic and international visitors, creating a favorable cultural atmosphere in the city, which is evident throughout the region.
