Šulić: We have shown that tourism in Srpska has potential

Minister of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska, Denis Šulić, stated that tourism represents the largest foreign investment on an annual basis, as each tourist visit positively contributes to the development of the local community.

“Although we have often faced comments that investments in tourism are unnecessary and reckless, the growing tourism indicators in Srpska have shown that every investment pays off many times over, and the results of these investments will be fully visible in a few years,” Šulić said on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

He added that each foreign tourist who visits Srpska boosts the income not only of tourism and hospitality service providers but also of the trade and other service industries.

“This positively impacts the development of the local community and opens up opportunities for additional economic activities, especially in rural areas, where there is room for the involvement of rural households and the placement of domestic products, as well as additional income for the residents of those regions,” Šulić emphasized to Srna.

He noted that tourism offers an opportunity for the development of domestic production and the marketing of those products, as well as for the promotion and protection of the cultural and historical identity and heritage of these regions.

“By promoting our destinations, we are not only showcasing our natural beauty, spa capacities, or gastronomy but also presenting who we are and sending a message about ourselves to the world with every guest who visits and shares their impressions,” Šulić said.

He expressed his expectation that Republika Srpska will surpass the previous year, during which a record number of over a million overnight stays was achieved, noting that current indicators support these expectations.

“With sincere pride in the continuous growth and development of tourism in Republika Srpska and the hope that we will continue this trend in the future, I extend my congratulations to all tourism workers on World Tourism Day, wishing that together we will break more records in the years to come,” Šulić concluded.

World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27 to raise awareness within the international community about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic value.
