Sattler: No progress in implementing European reforms since March

The head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Johann Sattler, stated today in Sarajevo that since March, when the decision was made to open accession negotiations, there has been no significant progress in implementing European reforms in BiH, and that the necessary laws for the next steps have not been adopted.

Following a meeting with members of the Joint Collegium of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Sattler mentioned that several issues remain unresolved, particularly those concerning the harmonization of the Growth Plan, and he urged the domestic authorities to take the necessary actions.

He emphasized that the EU is serious about the enlargement process and noted that significant progress has been made in BiH when compared to five years ago.

Sattler highlighted that he had witnessed the realization of ongoing projects, such as the construction of Corridor Vc and other important programs that have been completed or are underway.

The outgoing head of the EU Delegation also recalled that BiH became a full member of the European Civil Protection Mechanism two years ago, a significant achievement that has been somewhat overshadowed by other major developments, but remains very important.

Sattler also mentioned this year’s 30% reduction in roaming costs with EU countries, with an expected additional 20% reduction next year, aiming for zero roaming costs by 2027, which will directly benefit BiH citizens.
