Wahhabis are constantly engaged in the preparation and execution of terrorist acts, stated Slobodan Župljanin, Dean of the Faculty of Security and Protection in Banja Luka.
Župljanin noted that recent events related to the Wahhabi movement in Serbia are very alarming and serve as a wake-up call for security organizations to address this issue, as the current volatile global situation seems to favor their activities.
- They have periods when they are practically dormant, not visible, but in reality, they are always active, working on preparing and executing terrorist acts – Župljanin emphasized while commenting on the liquidation of Wahhabi Senad Ramović in Serbia, who refused to surrender and fired at the police.
Župljanin believes that the threat posed by Wahhabism is nothing new and that security services have been warning about the dangers of the Wahhabi movement for years, given the size of this community in Europe.
- It is certain that Wahhabis are present in the Balkans, in Serbia, as well as in BiH, where this issue has mostly been ignored due to a perception that it is directed against the Bosniak people – Župljanin explained in an interview with Srna.
He emphasized that the security services in Serbia had excellent information, monitored the situation, and dealt with those who were a threat and who encouraged the attack on the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade.
According to him, it is necessary for all security agencies in the region and in Europe to collaborate on this issue, as it could become a significant problem.
