“Banja Luka Ethno Days” Begin

The “Banja Luka Ethno Days,” which encompass two international events – “Kozara Ethno” and the “Serb Folklore Festival,” commenced today and will run until Sunday, July 7.

Mladen Šukalo from the Banja Luka Tourist Organization told Srna that both events will gather more than 500 participants.

He mentioned that the “Banja Luka Ethno Days” started with a parade of participants in the local community of Piskavica, the heart of the Kozara region’s culture and tradition.

Šukalo highlighted that numerous interesting events await visitors over the next three days.

He emphasized that tonight in Piskavica, many local producers of handicrafts and souvenirs, as well as participants from six countries – Panama, Greece, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Serbia, and BiH, will be showcased.

A workshop on the topic “Tambura Tronošac” is also scheduled, along with a performance for children and adults to enrich the program.

An “Ethno for Children” event will be held at the “Aquana” Water Park, featuring competitions for children, who will also have the opportunity to learn the traditional dance “Pleteni Kolo” and play the tambura tronošac, a specific instrument from Kozara.

As part of the ethno-fusion program, the Ethno-Jazz group “Naked” from Serbia will perform in Banja Luka for the first time.

The “Serb Folklore Festival 2024,” organized by the Veselin Masleša Folk Dance and Song Ensemble, will feature around 400 performers from six countries – Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovakia, Panama, and BiH.
