The Srebrenica resolution is a major provocation that brings destabilization and undermines the reconciliation process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Kalabukhov.

  • When the English got “hit on the head” by the Russian Federation’s veto in 2015, they resorted to the old strategy of “killing the enemy with someone else’s knife.” Now, they are using some of their tools in that direction. This is a provocation for both the Serbian and Bosniak peoples because Western, Anglo-Saxon mentors are pushing the narrative that the Bosniaks were almost the only victims in the events of the 1990s, that the issues around Srebrenica must be a cornerstone of Bosniak identity, and are instilling fear in the Bosniaks that only Western countries can be their protectors and true friends, which is not true – emphasized Kalabukhov.

Kalabukhov warned that “the situation is unfolding according to the well-known tactics of the Anglo-Saxon world to push for destabilization and confrontation here.”

  • This is an attempt to drive a wedge into the reconciliation process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially between the Serbs and Bosniaks. Regarding the Russian Federation, our stance is well known. We advocate for the respect of the Dayton Peace Agreement, we want a balanced approach from the international community towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we believe that all issues, including those concerning the past, must primarily be discussed within Bosnia and Herzegovina and agreed upon by the three constituent peoples and the two entities. Only that can be the basis for compromise, mutual respect, and progress for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future – concluded Kalabukhov.
