Dodik: Relations between Banja Luka and Sarajevo Possibly at Their Worst

The President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated today that the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, spreads lies about the Republika Srpska and that no dialogue can be opened with him.

Dodik emphasized that relations between Banja Luka and Sarajevo might be at their worst and that peace is the only value he advocates.

He assessed the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina as catastrophic.

Dodik said that Bećirović’s claims to speak on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina are untrue and that there is deceit behind everything he says.

  • “He is a person with many pathological traits, you cannot open any dialogue with him, you cannot achieve anything. He has his own story, his own truth. We should not forget that he wrote that Serbs committed several genocides against Bosniaks even 100 years ago, which no science can verify as scientifically proven facts,” Dodik said.

However, he added, Bećirović is not the only problem, but also the actions of Zlatko Lagumdžija and Elmedin Konaković, who recount joint meetings.

  • “It is true that I came and said, ‘Do we want to move forward? Yes, but first, we must finish what we agreed upon. Did we agree to change the Central Election Commission? Yes. Shall we do this? They are silent. Shall we adopt the budget we agreed upon? Yes. Then let’s finish these two points, the CEC and the budget.’ And he turns it into something he didn’t give,” Dodik explained.

Dodik noted that it was agreed to adopt the budget, but it is not being adopted because the excise funds on the indirect tax accounts cannot be allocated.

  • “Of course, we will first divide this, then we can adopt the budget. But if you don’t want that, that’s another matter. Then we cannot adopt the budget either. It’s all connected. And they persistently try to blame something,” said the President of Srpska.

Dodik added that he sees that Konaković, who faces public criticism, blames Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and him because they associate him with certain matters.

  • “I don’t know if it’s true or not, someone will eventually show that. I want to believe he is not connected with that clan, but that is not the way to escape from it. Neither Dodik, Vučić, nor anyone else held an umbrella for you when you did or didn’t do that. Leave us alone. To avoid it, they shift it onto us,” Dodik concluded.
