The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated that significant investments are being made in road infrastructure and that Republika Srpska and its funds can support these investments.
During the central panel titled “Long-term Development Directions – Western Balkans,” Dodik mentioned that Republika Srpska already has 120 kilometers of highway and that the primary goal is to continue towards Modriča.
- We already have contracted arrangements. We have contracted with the Chinese to build the road from Modriča to the Brčko District and from the Brčko District to Bijeljina. The section from Rača to Bijeljina is already under construction. We believe that in the next four to five years, we will be able to have a connection between Banja Luka and Belgrade with a highway. We will again have a small problem that we will try to solve – Dodik stated.
He explained that partners from the Bosniak community are demanding a route that is 20 kilometers longer, which is completely irrational from the perspective of Republika Srpska.
Dodik said that the plan for this year is to develop projects related to the expressway that should go from Trebinje towards Bileća and all the way to Višegrad.
Dodik also mentioned that the road from Zvornik to Pale is being repaired and modernized.
