As part of the “Days of St. Basil” event at the Trebinje Cultural Center, the opera “Despot Stefan” was performed, which tells the story of the renowned Serbian ruler, Despot Stefan Lazarević.
Writer Zorica Kuburović, who wrote the libretto for the opera, said that the most inspiring part of Despot Stefan’s life in writing the opera’s text was his construction of Belgrade.
- Every citizen of Belgrade had to sign a statement to obtain permission to settle in this city, pledging to behave decently and not to swear. You come to the point that Belgrade is dedicated to the Mother of God and was built in the glory of God for the gift of the Mother of God – said Kuburović.
The composer of the opera, Miroslav Aranđelović Rasinski, said that the biography of Despot Stefan Lazarević, an exceptional spiritual figure who did much for the Serbian people, is eternal inspiration.
The opera “Despot Stefan” was written as part of a project of the Ministry of Culture of Serbia, and the libretto review of the opera was prepared in 2019 by the late Bishop Atanasije.
At the Herzegovina Museum, the promotions included releases from the publishing houses Sveviđe and Vidoslov.
