The May festivities, organized by the Municipal Administration with public institutions and associations, traditionally commence on May 9th, Municipality Day, and the patron saint’s day – the Transfer of the Relics of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, on May 22nd.

In the gallery of the Foča Museum “Old Herzegovina,” the exhibition “Jovan Dučić, to his beloved Trebinje – in pursuit of a vision” was opened, a setting from the legacy of the Trebinje Museum of Herzegovina dedicated to the Serbian poet, diplomat, and first ambassador of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

Visitors were presented with Dučić’s life, diplomatic career, the content of his art collection, as well as a collection of personal items and gifts he left to his city, wishing Trebinje to become a city museum, a city of culture.

Highlights include photographs, letters, and correspondence of one of the most distinguished Serbs, an exceptional connoisseur of art, a collector, and a benefactor with significant figures of his time, such as Risto Stijčić, Atanasije Popović, Milan Kašanin.

Part of the display is the solemn diplomatic uniform worn by Jovan Dučić, swords as its integral part worn on special ceremonial occasions, and a valuable collection of decorations he received during his diplomatic service in 13 world capitals.

The exhibition is open until the end of May.
