Željka Cvijanović, the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will address the United Nations Security Council via video link tomorrow.

The session, requested by Russia, will focus on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In New York, Željka Cvijanović will discuss how the Bosniaks’ resolution on Srebrenica violates the constitution and laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I am pleased that the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, will have the opportunity to speak and present arguments in New York concerning what burdens us as a people and all the falsehoods others have stated about us while abusing their position. At the same time, I would invite colleagues from the opposition, who call themselves men, to learn from Ms. Cvijanović about patriotism and having the courage to take such a step,” said Srdjan Amiđić, Minister of Finance and Treasury in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Bosnian Ambassador to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija, without the consent of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the help of some countries, has placed the resolution that labels the Serb people on the agenda of the UN General Assembly. Therefore, diplomats say, it is important that the Security Council hears the truth.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the Serbian voice to finally be heard amid the chaos that has arisen in the United Nations. The voice of the Serb member of the Presidency who finally has the chance to point out in such a high body as the Security Council that when it comes to the resolution treating Bosnia and Herzegovina, only Bosnia and Herzegovina does not consent. Mr. Lagumdžija is acting entirely without the consent of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. And this resolution has neither legality nor legitimacy,” says the Bosnian Ambassador to Serbia, Aleksandar Vranješ.

“Considering that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is solely responsible for conducting foreign policy, members of the Security Council will have the opportunity to ask questions. Thus, it will be possible to establish that the issue of the Srebrenica resolution was not on the agenda and in this context, something must be defined to conclude in a lawful, proper manner,” says former Bosnian Ambassador Borisav Marić.

The UN General Assembly session, which was supposed to vote on the Srebrenica resolution, will not be held on May 2.

Allegedly, it has been postponed due to the harmonization of the text. In Republika Srpska and Serbia, they say that diplomatic efforts have borne fruit.
