“We are not pursuing a policy of secession, we advocate for delineation, in the sense of clearly defining what is whose jurisdiction and how far it extends, not secession. If that is not possible, then peaceful separation is the alternative,” said Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska, today.

Dodik reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the Constitution, is composed of Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the General Framework Agreement for Peace, and that Republika Srpska was formed before Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We are not a rebellious or separatist group; we are not creating a separation as we are not part of something that is being detached from Bosnia and Herzegovina. We simply want to govern, in accordance with the Constitution, what belongs to Republika Srpska under that Constitution. Since we cannot do that, of course, we want to reclaim our positions,” Dodik stated in Banja Luka, responding to a statement by the Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers, Zukan Helez, who said that Dodik should forget about secession from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as it would lead to war.

The President of Republika Srpska mentioned that propaganda policies are coming from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where there is, as he says, a race to say something about Milorad Dodik.

Dodik stated that it is the Muslims who have pursued a separatist policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, not the Serbs.

“The only separation that occurred here is the separation of the Bosniaks, or Bosnian Muslims, from the former Yugoslavia, no other. They made the separation, not us. We are not conducting any separatist policy,” emphasized the President of Republika Srpska.
