The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, laid wreaths today at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg in memory of the victims of the Siege of Leningrad.
The wreath-laying ceremony was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad.
Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, and Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, also laid wreaths.
The Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery, located in the north of St. Petersburg, is one of the largest burial sites for the victims of the Leningrad blockade. The memorial complex was opened on May 9, 1960.
The Siege of Leningrad began on September 8, 1941, and lasted nearly 900 days. The only route through which food reached the city was the “Road of Life” across the frozen Lake Ladoga.
As a reminder, President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik attended the Security Forum in St. Petersburg, which gathered officials from 130 countries.
Participants of the forum were addressed via video link by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated that all masterminds, sponsors, and organizers of the terrorist attack at “Crocus City Hall” near Moscow must be identified and punished.
Before the Security Forum, Dodik visited the “Expo” exhibition.
Dodik highlighted to RTRS that the forum would be an opportunity to acquaint participants with the positions of Republika Srpska regarding the proposed resolution on Srebrenica.
He noted that the Serb people will never accept the narrative of political Sarajevo and part of the international community regarding the alleged genocide in Srebrenica.
Following yesterday’s meeting with Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dodik also emphasized that Russia would not support this resolution.
