Today in Banja Luka, Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, held discussions with Gert Jan Koopman, the Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, about the current political situation in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The President of Republika Srpska emphasized that the decision to begin accession negotiations is a positive sign for the continuation of reform processes. He highlighted that local institutions and elected political representatives should be the only relevant decision-makers, as stated by the Office of the President of Republika Srpska.

Dodik underscored the importance of participation in the EU’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and noted that a working team from Republika Srpska would be operational in this process.

He stated that Republika Srpska supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path, on which it wishes to be visible, respecting its constitutional position and the Dayton structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was also attended by Željka Cvijanović, the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Johann Sattler, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
