The political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has been further complicated by a Muslim-initiated resolution on Srebrenica, which was forwarded to New York without the consent of the BiH Presidency, stated President Milorad Dodik. He claims there is an attempt to mythologize Srebrenica, emphasizing that only one side is purported to have the right to mourn its victims.

Before a forum on Greek national television, the President of Republika Srpska sent a clear message—this is a speculative process sponsored by Germany and Western countries, urging all friends of the Serb people not to fall into its trap. From Serbia and Srpska, it is declared: The Serb people hold the torch of freedom very high, and hence, they are bothersome.

The entire preparation of the Srebrenica resolution at the UN General Assembly adversely affects the situation in BiH and is not aimed at increasing the level of trust among the peoples, President Milorad Dodik told the Greek media. He stresses that the resolution is a speculative process sponsored by Germany and Western countries, calling on all friends of the Serb people not to fall into this trap. Dodik highlighted that those desiring long-term stabilization in the Balkans would support the peaceful dissolution process in BiH.

“We invite all our friends, including Greece, not to fall into the trap and to join a speculative process that is supported and sponsored by Germany, and of course by some Western countries that have previously bombed the Serbs on three occasions and are now trying to cleanse their sordid past,” said Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska.

The resolution is a demonstration of new violations of international law and continues the Western policy of putting Republika Srpska in an untenable position, ultimately aiming for its dissolution, opines President of the National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić. He notes not all will vote for this resolution, and that the current efforts of Srpska and Serbia will be recorded in history. Stevandić repeats, the sole intent of Srpska is to live in peace and independently make its own decisions.

“We already know that over 40 countries do not accept the Western cliché of rewriting history. When you know that a major power like Russia recently had only seven votes, you must realize that this is already a victory for the Serb people,” stated Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

Former diplomat Vladislav Jovanović stated that the messages from Presidents Dodik and Vučić regarding the potential consequences of the UN adopting the Srebrenica resolution are a demonstration of Serb unity, but also a warning to those united in completely blackening the Serb people’s name, as this could jeopardize the coexistence in BiH.

“Serbia recognizes this resolution as its vital national interest and believes it can be of great help to Srpska. It is said that the abstention of a large number of countries in the voting would be a victory for Srpska and Serbia,” said Vladislav Jovanović, a former diplomat.

Journalist Ljiljana Smajlović points out that this resolution allows the great powers to cleanse their conscience.

“It is hypocritical to talk about Srebrenica while civilians, including children, are dying almost every hour in Gaza. Yet from the same sources, we hear that Israel has the right to defend itself,” says Smajlović.

Parliamentary Assembly of BiH’s Serb People’s Club delegate Radovan Kovačević emphasized that everything one needs to know about the Srebrenica resolution is that it lacks the support of the institutions and agencies of BiH, meaning it holds no significance or weight for BiH, its peoples, and its citizens. Officials stress that the Serb people hold the torch of freedom very high, which is why those who wish to undermine Republika Srpska find them troublesome.
