Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, stated that once again, Republika Srpska has shown its ability to make decisions democratically and in accordance with the Constitution.
Košarac emphasized the visible political responsibility of the Republika Srpska leadership to discuss current political topics and security challenges in the most important institutions of Srpska, highlighting that all solutions should stem from domestic agreements and policies.
“This also applies to the electoral legislation of Srpska, where domestic political forces, both ruling and opposition, should participate. The democratic nature of the process is best evidenced by the fact that there will be a public discussion on the Draft Election Law of Srpska, allowing all interested parties to give feedback and suggestions,” said Košarac.
He stressed that Republika Srpska has electoral sovereignty, is a separate electoral unit, and can conduct elections in accordance with the law.
Košarac mentioned that any imposition of solutions will not improve political relations in BiH, nor will it benefit anyone, but unfortunately, a part of the political structure in the Federation of BiH is being utilized to impose solutions dictated by foreigners, which is completely unacceptable for Srpska.
“We call for respect for the Constitution and the Dayton structure, according to which BiH is composed of two entities and three constituent peoples. We advocate for internal agreement without interference from foreigners,” Košarac emphasized.
Košarac evaluated that the “blemish” on yesterday’s session of the National Assembly was the lack of political courage from the opposition to reject the imposed solutions of the illegitimate Christian Schmidt, as well as to publicly oppose the malign influence of U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy, who is directed against Srpska and the interests of the Serbian people.
“In the end, they did not vote for the proposed conclusions, confirming that they are predisposed towards Schmidt and Murphy. It is obvious that this duo is far more important to them than the Serbian people. It is even more apparent that the biggest problem for the opposition, as well as Schmidt and Murphy, is the electoral will of the citizens of Srpska who support President Dodik’s policies,” Košarac concluded.
The National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted the Draft Election Law last night, which regulates that elections for the authorities in Srpska will be conducted by the Republic Electoral Commission, municipal electoral commissions, and polling boards appointed by the competent authorities of Republika Srpska.
The National Assembly of Republika Srpska also adopted conclusions stating that, together with the competent institutions and authorities of Republika Srpska, they will take necessary measures to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens and neutralize the consequences of unconstitutional actions on the territory of Srpska.
