The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković, has announced that security in Srpska has already been elevated to a higher level, but also emphasized that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is the place to discuss this topic.

Višković stated that a special session of the Srpska parliament has been convened for this purpose, during which deputies will discuss the current security and political situation in the world from the perspective of its repercussions on Srpska today.

“BiH currently has no information on possible threats, but we must not let our guard down because there are also radical Islamists here waiting for an opportunity,” Višković said.

He urged citizens to be vigilant and cooperative, and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, so they can respond in time.

Regarding the economic and financial situation in Srpska, Višković highlighted that the budget is liquid, and all obligations related to pensions, social benefits, allowances, etc., are being fulfilled.

“We have some delays related to grants, which we are paying off gradually, and none of these grants have been completely stopped,” Višković noted.

Commenting on the judiciary workers’ strike, he pointed out that the republic’s budget was adopted just over two months ago, making it difficult to plan for a wage increase at this time.

Višković believes that this issue can be resolved through an agreement or memorandum, and then by enacting certain legal solutions over the next year or two, as was done with the demands of the unions of education and culture workers for highly qualified workers.

Speaking about the responsibility in the work of public enterprise managers, Višković reiterated his position that certain legal solutions need to be changed to increase the level of responsibility and discipline among these directors.

“Directors of public enterprises are accountable to the supervisory board, which is accountable to the shareholders’ assembly, and nowhere in the law does it state that if this supervisory board does not receive a passing grade for its work from the owner, in the case of public enterprises the Government of Srpska, the entire management along with the supervisory board should automatically be dismissed,” Višković explained.

He added that a similar problem is presented by civil servants who come to work and, despite not doing anything, cannot be sanctioned.

Višković told ATV that the government’s goal is to conduct an analysis of the operations of public enterprises, and he has received a report on the work of “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske” from an independent professional institution, which will also be presented to the public.

“Our goal is to do the same in other public enterprises; a unit for the supervision of public enterprises has been established in the president’s cabinet, and they will start with analyses from the final accounts for 2023,” Višković stated.
