The General Secretary of the SNSD, Srđan Amidžić, stated that by imposing the decision on amendments to the Election Law, Christian Šmit has created a serious problem for BiH and should be held accountable for it.
Either Šmit absolutely does not understand the situation in BiH, or he is talented at turning a peaceful situation into a political hurricane, as he did yesterday – said Amidžić.
He emphasized that no one in Republika Srpska is against technical amendments to the Election Law, but they are against the imposition of decisions and the illegitimate, unelected foreigner Šmit.
Amidžić highlighted that this is a provocation and an attempt by some individuals from Sarajevo to turn things in BiH backward.
He said that Republika Srpska has the right to its own election law and to conduct elections on its territory.
- Republika Srpska has the jurisdiction to enforce laws that pertain to its territory. The BiH Central Election Commission has taken away Republika Srpska’s jurisdiction to conduct elections, and this needs to be returned – Amidžić stated, adding that Republika Srpska has both the right and the capacity to organize and conduct elections.
